You know I agree with what you say. But I would also liek to say, dont hold a bitter tounge/ thought towards the ignorant.  A lot of hindus never saw sikhs as any different then thier brothers, some did, and sadly those smoe were in power to move thoughts of people. Still today, ignorance lies across India, I think rather than hatefully standing up, if you can smile at their ignorance and explain to them. why their thoughts are wrong, (with simple things as 12 o clok.. or that siksh do a lot, don think we dont.. ex. military, history etc.) and you will create awarness. not hate.
