I realize from the dates, that this thread is a little old, but I stumbled across your post while doing research for a blog entry on Sikhism`s views of the gay community.  I think it`s great that you have sparked debate in this forum.  Have you read any articles about when Canada was passing gay marriage?  I found many people arguing that Sikhism, as a religion that defends the rights of other faiths, should defend gay rights.

I myself am a bisexual female, and my first boyfriend had been a Sikh.  While he initially was merely tolerant of the gay community initially [and terrified of me hanging out with lesbians], after close contact with many gay individuals, he later turned out to be a big supporter.  Though we did end sourly, it was not related to my being bisexual or he being Sikh.  I still keep in great touch with his family, who now are big Allies [str8 supporters of the gay community].  Simply proof that just by being open and normal, you bring acceptance and support!
