Re: Hockey in India
The concept of Hockey has over the years taken a new dimension. If you look at the European sides a lot of emphasis is being allocated to training to the highest levels. Schools of hockey excellence are being opened all over Europe & the Rest of the World except India. take the example of Holland, Germany and Australia, nations who have taken real pride of the way they teacgh their youngsters. I can give an example of the recent World Cup which took place in Utrecht,Holland. A small nation not even the size of perhaps Mumbai prides itself with 300 astro turf pitches. How many does India have?

Secondaly, the attidute of the Indian players. I myself having represented Kenya( 20 yaers ago) was proud to be a representative of my country. I noticed the attitude of the Indian Hockey Team, who I think were merely there to sell off their kits to earn an extra buck!. What a shame to a nation who dominated World Hockey for over 30 years.

What can we do to alter the state of Indian Hockey?
Firstly get rid of the establishment who have thoughts of material gain in their minds.
Secondly, employ an EUROPEAN COACH who will introduce new ways of getting fit combined with dietary education.

I believe that only the cream of the country should be picked to represent in any games instaed of some relative who may have political backing to support his cause.

Unless some drastic action is taken, India as far as I personally concerned will be a bygone name.
