Bro i gotta give u props for reasearching all that stuff ... I really appreciate it and i enjoyed readding it  .. lots of good information in it. Now im really confused lol coz our gyani`s and sants say we should not eat meat at all but based on this it says dont eat halaal meat ... and One thing i noticed all our rules in sikhi go againts the way of living of moghuls i mean like for example

1 moghuls ate halal and our sikhism say dont eat that type of meat

2. moghuls smoked tobacco  and in sikhi they told us not to smoke

3. moghuls had the option to marry upto 4 women , and in our religion that is not allowed.

4. moghuls didnt keep their hair long , and in sikhi we need to have our hair long

All im trying to say is I think at that time when the Guru`s were making all this rules all they did was do everything opposite of what moghuls did. I dunno if it is just me  , well i guess i`ll find out from other people posting after me. Do you guys think the same way? [/quote]

Hi Jag,

The Gru were against ritualism period. They were against Islamic and Hindu ritualism.

An example of Hindu ritual is when an animal would be slaughtered to the dead ancestors and it would be burnt on the funeral pyre with the deceased person to ease the journey (Anustrani), was an example of meaningless ritual. Also Bali or sacrificial meat.

Halal too was seen as a sacrificial meat.

Our Guru`s were clear on issue`s of sacrifice........our Guru`s need no such appeasement....they don`t need animal sacrifice.

If you are killing a plant or animal for food, then do it in good faith....not with some sort of guilt.

As for Sants.......what you find out about Sants is that many of them have followed Hindu Vaishnav philosophy in the past......example the Damdami Taksal reit marayada talks about not harming black cows...............makes you go hmmmm!!! :)
