I`m proud to be Indian and Sikh.. I`m not proud of our history and I`m not proud of 1984, but India is our homeland and we can`t forget that.

What I meant was, I am not proud of what happened in 1984 and our history with Indira Ghandi, I didn`t mean I am not proud of India`s history altogether.

It was wrong of Sant Jarnail Singh Bhindrawale to resort to violence instead of peaceful tactics but still, he created a movement and decided to retaliate with guns for the best interest of the Sikhs.

To some he may be an extremist but he still died for his religious beliefs making him a martyr. His idealogy was drastic, and he shouldn`t of brought guns into the Akal Takht but the Akal Takht stood for political sovereignty in the eyes of the Sikh people for ages.

I didn`t necessarily agree with his fundamental ways but I still salute him as a hero. Sri Guru Hargobind Ji made the Akal Takht as a means of military resistance against the Mughals..so it almost represented a safe haven for Bhindrawale to seek refuge.

But I`m probably not as informed as some people on this site, so I could be wrong. But that`s how I feel anyway.
