Punjab has gone through a lot in the 20th century. Many individuals have taken charge and have had a very influential and positive effect on the lives of the Punjabis. Below are 6 candidates for the honor of being the Punjabi of the 20th century. This list obviously does not cover all the deserving candidates. Other candidates not on the list include Bhagat Singh Bilga, a socialist currently living in Jalundhar, Khushwant Singh, who has been the voice of the Punjabis, and Amrita Sher Gill, an artist, a painter, who left a mark on Punjabi art.
